Gendering Camera

Close up on the muscles of a thug at the table, sizing up how strong, powerful and masculine they are, also sizing up how much competition they are.

Tony adjusting his ring and making a fist, warming up before the fight, showing experience, control and masculinity.

In this shot Tony is bigger than the thug he wants to fight, showing that he is the more masculine male, this type of shot also makes Tony seem more intimidating. The shot also shows that it is Tony vs a group, showing that he is trying to assert his authority.

Low angle shot on Tony, making him appear larger, more superior and more masculine.

Ariel view of Tony, after the fight, making him look tiny and weak, showing his true colours that he is not as fit as he used to be and is desperately trying to keep his authority. This is more of a Feminine shot, because it makes Tony seem small, weak and alone.

Individual: Idea Presentation

Plot:

The Sub-genre i chose for my thriller was a crime thriller, because it allows a wide range of plots to be used, such as, a murder or a robbery etc.
In my crime thriller i chose the first scene to be located in a poorly lit room, with past robberies and planned robberies stuck up on the wall, the past robberies will be news paper clippings.
The scene starts in a dark corner of the room, whilst the camera is positioned there the audience will hear a murder taking place, but not see it, the camera will then swivel round to show a dead body on the floor, in the front view of the camera and a dark, silhouetted man standing in the background.
The camera will stay there for a few moments, as some names appear in the title sequence, then will continue to swivel round to show the walls, covered in planned and past robberies, names will continue to appear as the camera moves until in the end it will finish facing a dark corner, giving a black background, this is when the name of the film will appear.

Characters:

There are two main characters in the opening scene, one is the murder victim and the other is the tall silhouetted man, this character is supposed to be portrayed as the murderer, although he was never shown to murder the victim.
He wears a smart suit and his face is not shown in the first scene, this is to create mystery.
